Well, I didn't see this one coming. But it seems that I really like taking pictures of flowers. And with the weather being what it has been the last while, I have been taking a ton....
For more, check out my gallery at www.yellowcouch.zenfolio.com in the "Nature" section. Oh, and I'm not sure I'm going to keep that address (it's a trial account) so if you want to look, it would be best to do it in the next few days...

The one with the bee is BEAUTIFUL. The color and everthing is just amazing. I'm really impressed.
Thanks, bud! National Geographic hasn't called yet, but I'm trying to keep off the line in case.
The bokeh from the 70-300mm lens is really quite good, I think... very smooth for a non-prime lens. The 18-55 kit lens is much more mechanical looking when I blur it - instead of that nice, smooth wash of color it looks like the patterns in a kaleidescope.
Anyways, we need to get a bit of a weekly theme thing going when Josh is back...
My friend Rosie is a photographer and she went bananas for your bee photo too. And your ducks and other waterfowl-such-creatures.
Um, how close were you actually to that serious stinger, anyway? Yikes! No wonder it hurts!
That's cool... now I just need to find a way to make a living at it. Actually, for a lot of the close shots, I am using a long telephoto (300mm) and am actually more than a meter away from the subject of the picture. So I felt relatively safe.
And here's something else I was thinking about - bees actually have their stingers on their butts, right? Is that thing on his face just to collect pollen? I don't really get it. Or maybe I'm getting them mixed up with wasps. Who knows...
