Getting A Top Ten Ranking On Google

I got an email today offering to sell me tips to help me get a top 10 ranking in Google searches.

I find it kind of funny, because I get a spot near the top all the time. So here are my rules for getting a high ranking with Google.

1. Lots of content: Google likes it when things are fresh. What returns my page in the top spot or two today may not show my page in the top 100 a few weeks from now.

2. Unique key words: some examples of search terms that have led people to this blog lately are... "givenchy indecent" (I came up at #1), "youtube malmstein" (#7), "graffiti mnb" (#3... granted, this one looks a little more targeted, unless MNB has some other meaning I don't know about), and of course "yellow couch" and my name. You never know what people are looking for.

3. Use a Google-owned avenue of communication. Is it coincidental that Google points people to their own blogging site? I don't think so. They like to keep it all in-house...

There you are. You are now on your way to internet glory at absolutely no charge. You can thank me later.

this is more a question pertaining to your labels (blogs, internet).

is there any relevance to the "897" and yellow star you have on your banner, or was this simply one of a list of 12 options?

sorry, completely irrelevant, but inquiring minds... well, you know.

by the way... the number one hit for "mnb" on www.acronymfinder.com is Magyar Nemzeti Bank (National Bank of Hungary). perhaps "graffiti Mint-condition, No Box" is what someone was aiming for?

Jon, I'm trying hard to find the link between my labels and the "897".

My best guess is that you have assumed, correctly, that I'm not using the labels quite as they are meant to be used. I think that the idea is that I have 8 or 10 that people can use to navigate through subjects easily. But how do you find a label for Yngvie Malmstein that is supposed to work for The Corrs? It just doesn't happen like that.

So, although I don't appreciate your inference that it's only a matter of time until I have close to 900 labels, I will tell you that the numbers just appeared at the top when I chose the template I liked the best.

And I think my new life's ambition is to get The Yellow Couch to the number one spot on www.acronymfinder.com for TYC.
