Devil Is In

Here are some things I noticed while I was in Rome. No particular theme running through them beyond that, but I hope you enjoy them.

You can see the rest here.

Um, are you sure that first photo is accurate? In my memories of Rome, I believe there should be at least two mountains of dog poop on that sidewalk.

As always, great work D.

Nat, I cleared it away first, with my bare hands: anything for the picture.

And anonymous, there are a whole pile of them... it's in Santa Maria Magiore, and they have them lined up along the wall, with signs indicating the languages the priests in each one speak. An interesting mix of faith and tourism...

yeah Catholics are all about meaning of specific places and events. To say a confession in Rome is kind of a holy thing for folks, like putting a prayer in the Wailing Wall. And what good is a confession if the priest doesn't understand your language?

Well, I could hardly call myself a decent protestant if I didn't ask the obvious follow-up question... what good is it if he does?

;-)

I think that "this is the center of the Catholic universe" aspect surprised me... I was expecting the priests and nuns to be Italian, but they were certainly from all over the world.
