Tonight's The Night

The Cover Story (you may know them as the MNB) debut. It's going to be good, I hope. And fun. Fun to play, fun to listen to. The songs will start at the right tempo; the backup vocals will be so on pitch you will find yourself wondering where the CD is hidden; the guitar will be neither too loud nor too quiet, with an aggressive yet pleasant tone. It will all go well.

And I will not - NOT - drop my sticks.

Thanks to all of you who have decided to come and cheer us on. I'd love to buy you each a drink, but I'm afraid we're not getting paid quite that much. And thanks, also, to those of you who weren't able to get flights lined up (yes, I'll try to give you more warning next time) and so have been encouraging me from a distance. I appreciate it, and promise good seats to all when the world tour rolls around...

Let us know how not dropping the sticks goes. I'm sorry to say that if I were a bookie, I would not be giving favorable odds that you'd be able to hold on to them for the entire night. :) To your credit though, I'd say most people usually never notice. But I often had a better vantage point than most.

Also, I think you should post a set list. Can their be an Internet poll for loyal fans of MNB all over the world to have their say in one song each night?

Denise! Thanks. It was not so stompy, but not bad, I think.

And Troy, I did not drop a single stick. Not one. I'm pretty proud.

As far as a first gig goes it was okay, I think. My friends said nice things (but friends tend to do that). The bar paid us a bonus and booked us for a Saturday night in December, which can only be a good sign... we had heard tales of Leona getting rid of some bands after their first set, and Thursdays are basically an audition for Saturdays, so I'll take it as a vote of confidence.

Now we just need to find a replacement for Kristy, who's moving to Oz in three weeks. Rats.

And it turns out that the time (tons) to income (almost nothing) ratio is not great. It's a good thing I love to play.

Well, I had lots of fun in what seemed really little time, which is always a good ratio in my book. It's a good thing I'm an NF I guess (=
It was a pleasure and an honor to play with you guys.
Oh, and Darryl's friends who were there: thanks for the cheering and Darryl's friends who weren't there: thanks for the good vibrations! Goodness knows we needed 'em. That story about Leona kicking out bands had my crying out of nerves yesterday! 'Night

Not once? VERY impressive.

Woohoo! Congratulations for the great debut! Wow. My very own bar-playing drummer friend.

I'm tempted to show up in December. Need another backup singer? ;-) Practice for Mindy, y'know.

Dandy, I had a fan, and I think that made all the difference. In any case, as Troy mentioned, this is a skill that has been, unfortunately, very slow in developing. Nice to see it finally coming into it's own.

And anonymous, we may need some BGV's in December if we can't find a keyboard player who sings. I'll keep you posted.

Ooh goody. But you may have some resources right there in town. Wouldn't want to cut in line. ;-)
